Melville Castle, Lasswade (Midlothian)
A genuinely stunning Neo-Gothic castle setting within 20 minutes of Edinburgh city centre. The ballroom has character and decent ceiling height — important for lighting rigs. Sound limiter is in place in the marquee, with ceiling speakers above the dancefloor — worth knowing in advance, but entirely manageable with experience. We’ve had many memorable nights here and know the room well.
Mansfield Traquair, Edinburgh
One of Edinburgh’s most spectacular event spaces — a restored Victorian Catholic Apostolic Church with stunning murals and extraordinary atmosphere. Acoustically the room can be challenging, but with the right equipment and experience it sounds excellent. The Silver Package works particularly well here given the height and scale of the space. Loading access is via the rear of the building.
Prestonfield House, Edinburgh
A lavishly decorated country house hotel at the foot of Arthur’s Seat. The function rooms are opulent and intimate — better suited to smaller guest lists than large receptions. The venue team are highly professional and the overall experience for guests is exceptional. Sound restrictions apply and are strictly managed.
