Daytime Disco & Decades Parties Scotland

Daytime discos are having a moment in Scotland — and if you’ve been to a Disco Days event or caught wind of the Day Fever craze, you’ll know exactly why. But you don’t have to head to a ticketed event in Glasgow or Edinburgh to get your fix. Premier Disco can bring the full daytime disco experience directly to your venue, your community hall, your bowling club, or your back garden — with a completely personalised set tailored to your crowd.

We’ve been playing the music people love to dance to since 1979. 70s soul and funk, 80s pop and new wave, 90s dance classics, Motown, Abba, Northern Soul — if there’s a decade you want to relive, we know it inside out. And unlike a ticketed event where you’re sharing a night with hundreds of strangers, a private daytime disco is entirely yours.

What Is a Daytime Disco?

The premise is simple — it’s a disco that happens during the day. Typically running from around 2pm to 7pm, a daytime disco lets you dance the afternoon away and still be home at a sensible hour. No late nights, no worrying about taxis, no babysitters needed. You get all the fun of a proper night out, none of the recovery time the next day.

The format has exploded in Scotland over the past couple of years. Events like Disco Days (running regular afternoons at Club Tropicana in Edinburgh and Glasgow) have demonstrated an enormous appetite for exactly this kind of entertainment among the over-30s crowd. The difference with booking Premier Disco is that we come to you — your venue, your guest list, your music.

Decades Themes We Cover

Tell us the decade — or the mix of decades — and we’ll build the set around it. Popular themes include:

  • 70s Disco and Soul — Earth, Wind & Fire, Chic, Donna Summer, Marvin Gaye, the Bee Gees
  • 80s All Day — New wave, synth-pop, Wham!, Duran Duran, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Frankie Goes to Hollywood
  • 90s Dance Classics — Eurodance, Britpop, garage, house — everything from Blur to Faithless to The Prodigy
  • Motown and Northern Soul — the timeless stuff. Four Tops, Supremes, Temptations, Stevie Wonder
  • Abba Party — a full Abba-themed afternoon has become one of our most requested private events since the Mamma Mia effect shows no sign of slowing
  • All-Decades Mix — the most popular option for mixed-age groups. We work through the decades chronologically, building the set to suit the room
  • 60s Swinging London — The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shaw

Not sure which theme suits your crowd? We’ve been reading rooms since 1979. Tell us who’s coming and we’ll advise on what works best.

Who Books a Private Daytime Disco?

The range of events we do in the daytime slot is wider than you might think:

  • Birthday parties — a 50th, 60th or 70th birthday afternoon disco is increasingly popular. No one wants a late night at that stage of life, but everyone still wants to dance.
  • Retirement parties — celebrated during the day, at a time when people can actually make it
  • Club and community group socials — bowling clubs, WRI groups, social clubs and community halls across Scotland have been booking daytime entertainment for years. We know this audience well.
  • School reunion events — nothing brings a year group together like the music they grew up with, at a time they can actually attend
  • Summer garden parties — a daytime disco in a marquee or outdoor space across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Central Scotland
  • Care home and sheltered housing events — we’re experienced at adapting the format and volume for these settings. It’s entertainment that genuinely matters.
  • Corporate daytime events — summer team days, office parties that don’t require anyone to sacrifice their evening
  • Charity fundraisers — combine a daytime disco with a raffle and you have a brilliant afternoon fundraiser for any cause. We also run race nights if you want something different.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a daytime disco typically run?

Most daytime discos run for 3–5 hours, typically from around 2pm to 6 or 7pm. This gives guests plenty of dancing time while keeping the evening free. We’re flexible — if you need a shorter or longer set, just let us know when you enquire.

What kind of venue do I need?

We can work in almost any indoor space with a clear floor area for dancing. Community halls, bowling club function rooms, hotel function suites, marquees and private homes with large enough rooms all work well. We bring all the equipment and will advise on what’s suitable for your space and guest numbers.

Can I choose the music myself?

Absolutely — that’s one of the biggest advantages of a private event over a ticketed night. You get access to our online music planning portal before the event to select must-plays, flag anything you’d rather not hear, and give us a feel for the vibe you want. On the day, we build on that foundation and read the room throughout.

Is a daytime disco suitable for older guests?

It’s one of the most age-appropriate formats there is. No late nights, music from the era people actually grew up with, and a relaxed atmosphere that doesn’t require anyone to stand in a dark club. We’ve run daytime events for guests in their 60s, 70s and 80s and the response is always wonderful. We adjust volume and energy to suit the room.

How much does a daytime disco cost?

Pricing depends on location, duration, and whether you’re adding extras like bingo or karaoke. Get in touch with your date, venue and rough guest numbers and we’ll come back with a clear quote quickly.

Specialist Daytime Events

Looking for something more specific? We offer dedicated pages for two of our most popular specialist formats:

  • Burns Night Daytime Disco — a Scottish-themed afternoon celebration with Burns music, ceilidh dancing and optional Burns Night traditions. Perfect for January events across Scotland.
  • Sober Daytime Disco — a fully alcohol-free or mindful-drinking daytime event. Ideal for Dry January, recovery communities, faith groups, workplaces and anyone who wants a brilliant afternoon out without alcohol at the centre.

The daytime disco trend has been covered extensively in Scottish media. The Scotsman has reported on the rise of afternoon clubbing events across Scotland, while VisitScotland lists daytime events as a growing part of Scotland’s leisure calendar. If you’re looking for inspiration on themes and music, the BBC Music archive covers every decade in detail.

You might also find our specialist pages useful: Burns Night Daytime Disco for a Scottish-themed January afternoon, or our Sober Daytime Disco page for alcohol-free events. We also run race nights and charity fun nights if you want to combine an afternoon disco with fundraising activities.
