Ceilidhoke — Ceilidh Dancing Meets Karaoke
An evening that swaps between traditional Scottish dancing and karaoke — up to 5 hours of energy, laughs and no dead spots on the dance floor.
Most nights lean one way — dancing all night, or singing all night. Ceilidhoke is our new hybrid format that gives you both: traditional ceilidh dancing woven together with karaoke, so guests who want to be on their feet and guests who want the mic both get their moment — and nobody sits out for hours waiting for their bit of the evening.
What Is Ceilidhoke?
Ceilidhoke runs for up to 5 hours and mixes two of the most participatory event formats around. We open with ceilidh dancing — fully called, so no experience is needed — then move into a karaoke set, then back to dancing, and so on through the night. The exact mix is built around your crowd: more dancing if your guests love being on their feet, more karaoke if you’ve got a room full of singers, or a straight split that keeps energy high without wearing anyone out.
Calling can be provided by James personally, DJ-led throughout the evening, or you can upgrade to a live ceilidh band for the dancing sets while we handle the karaoke side — whichever fits your event and your budget.
How the Evening Works
- Ceilidh sets — fully called traditional dances, accessible to complete beginners
- Karaoke sets — a full song library with requests taken in advance and on the night, and a chance for the dancers to catch their breath
- Flexible running order — alternate every 30–45 minutes, or shape it however suits your crowd
- One host, no handover — James runs the whole evening personally, or brings in a ceilidh band as an upgrade
- Full PA, microphones and lighting included for both the dancing and the singing
- DJ sets included if you wish
- Up to 5 hours — enough time to properly mix both formats without either feeling rushed
Why Ceilidhoke Works So Well
Ceilidh dancing is brilliant at getting a room full of strangers moving together, but it’s physical — after 90 minutes flat out, even keen dancers need a breather. Karaoke gives that natural cool-down window while keeping the room just as loud and involved, just in a different way. Swap back to dancing once the energy’s built again, and you get a night that peaks more than once instead of burning out halfway through.
It also solves the classic mixed-crowd problem — the guests who’ll never set foot on a dance floor but will happily grab the mic, and the guests who love a reel but will never sing a note. Ceilidhoke gives both groups a reason to get involved.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need any ceilidh dancing experience?
No, we will provide the dance calling and teach the dance before anyone tries it
Can we choose the karaoke songs?
Absolutely. We carry a complete catalog of karaoke songs and can source any we don’t have on legal download sites on the night, given there is a good 4g connection
Is this DJ-led or a live band?
Either, every option is open. Let’s discuss!
How is the 5 hours split between dancing and karaoke?
I recommend alternating the dancing with the karaoke. Ceilidh dancing is tiring so I suggest changing every 2 or 3 dances
What kind of events does this suit?
We have still to find an event we do that this does not suit. Any family gathering, corporate event or party will benefit from a ceilidhoke
