The evening reception room is a manageable size for a DJ rig and takes production well. A white LED dance floor and light-up letters both worked nicely in the space at Demi and Christopher’s wedding, supplied by Instapic. On-site parking makes load-in straightforward. The venue team were accommodating, too, when the wedding breakfast overran and pushed the whole evening back by more than an hour.

The Space — What You Need to Know

As a Stair Arms Hotel wedding DJ, we’ve found the room handles a busy dance floor well and copes fine with a live element layered over a DJ set. We had saxophonist Gordon Bowie playing live for an hour partway through the evening, and the acoustics stayed clean rather than getting muddy — which isn’t always the case in an older building.

Demi and Christopher’s Wedding — A Quick Case Study

Guests entered the evening reception to DNA by Billy Gillies, with the first dance to Teddy Swims’ You’re the One and a father-daughter dance to I Loved Her First by Heartland. The dance floor stayed busy for most of the night, and the cake was cut in front of a flower arch and light-up Mr & Mrs letters. The night wrapped up at 1am with Caledonia by the Libations. That’s a later finish than the typical midnight cut-off, and one the venue supported without any issue.
