What Entertainment Should You Have at a Boozy Brunch in Scotland?
Boozy brunches have become one of the most-booked daytime event formats in Scotland. But while the food and drinks get sorted quickly, the entertainment is often an afterthought — and that is a mistake. The right entertainment turns a nice lunch into a day people are still talking about on Monday. Get it right and you get confetti in your hair, a blow-up guitar in your hand and the whole room screaming along to “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” at 2pm.
Here is a rundown of what works best, based on what we see booking well for boozy brunch events across Central Scotland.
1. Music Video Bingo with Props
This is consistently the most popular choice. Banging Bingo has guests marking off songs they recognise as short clips of the original music videos play on a big screen. Competitive, hilarious, and works perfectly while people are still eating and drinking.
The props are what make it. Blow-up mics and guitars land on the tables before the first game starts — so when that power ballad kicks in, your guests are ready. The confetti cannon fires when someone calls house. “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now”, “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” — these become full-on sing-along moments rather than just games. Each game lasts around 20 minutes so you can run two or three across a 3-hour event.

2. Silent Disco
If you want something more visually spectacular — or if your venue has noise restrictions — a Silent Disco is outstanding. Guests get LED headphones with three DJ channels to switch between. Everyone finds their sound, the dancing starts, and the whole room looks incredible. Add blow-up guitars and mics and the photos become genuinely unforgettable.
Works particularly well on hotel terraces, in private dining rooms, and at outdoor summer brunches where a traditional PA would cause noise issues.

3. SpeedQuizzing
For groups who want competitive edge with their cocktails, SpeedQuizzing uses guests' smartphones as buzzers for fast-paced rounds with a live leaderboard. No paper, no pens — just questions and genuine tension as the scores update in real time. Can be themed to suit — music, TV, general knowledge, or custom content for corporate events.
Works brilliantly for: corporate team days, office parties, birthday brunches with a mixed-age group.
4. DJ with Themed Daytime Set
A great DJ at a brunch makes an enormous difference. Our Daytime Disco format builds from background music right through to a full dancefloor set as the afternoon goes on. Decade themes work particularly well — an all-80s brunch, a 90s R&B afternoon, a Britpop set. Give people a theme and they will dress for it, request songs and genuinely invest in the music.
5. Combining Formats
The best boozy brunches combine two formats. A typical structure that works really well:
- Guests arrive, DJ plays background music during food service (noon — 1pm)
- Blow-up props land on the tables as game 1 is introduced
- Banging Bingo game 1 with confetti cannon finish (1pm — 1:25pm)
- DJ set while people mingle and get drinks (1:25pm — 2pm)
- Banging Bingo game 2 — more sing-alongs, more confetti (2pm — 2:25pm)
- DJ brings the energy up to close or moves into Silent Disco (2:25pm — 3pm)
