DJ at Prestonfield House, Edinburgh — Corporate Events & Private Parties | Premier Disco

1 26th May 2026 by James Veal

Prestonfield House is one of Edinburgh’s most beloved venues — a 17th-century baroque mansion in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat, five minutes from the Royal Mile, with resident peacocks roaming the grounds and Highland cattle in the parkland. It sounds like something you’d make up, but it’s completely real, and it makes for a genuinely unforgettable wedding or event backdrop. The Stables Ballroom is the main event space and it’s one of the best DJ rooms in Edinburgh.

As DJ at Prestonfield House, we’ve performed here on a number of occasions and it’s a venue we have a lot of time for. The team are excellent, the room is brilliant, and the whole place has a theatrical quality — from the Witchery-style interiors to the peacock that occasionally appears at the window mid-set. More at the Prestonfield House website →

Setting Up at Prestonfield House

Setup for a DJ at Prestonfield House is genuinely straightforward — the Stables Ballroom has good supplier access, and the Prestonfield team organise things well while making you feel properly welcome. There’s already sound and lighting infrastructure installed too, which makes life easier than at many historic venues. Load-in is easy and the team brief you clearly from the start, but it’s still worth coming early enough for a proper sound check — this circular space rewards getting the levels right.

The Space — What You Need to Know

The Stables Ballroom is a circular space with capacity for up to 500 guests — one of the larger ballrooms in Edinburgh. That circular layout means no guest is ever far from the dancefloor, which does wonders for energy and atmosphere. As DJ at Prestonfield House, we’ve found the sound infrastructure here genuinely good, and the acoustics are excellent for a room of this age. Uplighting is particularly effective too, given the architecture.

Events We Cover

We cover corporate dinners and private parties at Prestonfield House. The venue’s reputation, and the quality of its in-house catering, attracts clients after a seamless, high-end experience — which suits our approach perfectly. See our corporate events page and private parties page for more.

Prestonfield House is also a very popular wedding venue — see Premier Disco Weddings’ dedicated Prestonfield House page for wedding-specific packages and pricing.

DJ at The Caves, Edinburgh — Weddings and Private Events | Premier Disco

1 26th May 2026 by James Veal

As DJ at The Caves, there’s nowhere quite like this venue in Edinburgh. Underneath the South Bridge, a network of stone vaults dating back to the 18th century now forms one of the most atmospheric event spaces in the city — high ceilings, candlelit alcoves, rough stone walls, and a sense of history that you can’t manufacture. It’s a venue that creates an atmosphere before anyone switches on a single light or plays a note.

We’ve provided DJ entertainment at The Caves for weddings and private events, and it’s consistently one of the most enjoyable venues to work in. In fact, the intimacy of the space and the naturally warm acoustic make it a DJ’s dream in many ways. More at the Caves Edinburgh website →

Setting Up at The Caves Edinburgh

Setup for a DJ at The Caves calls for a bit of advance planning — load-in access is through the South Bridge entrance, and the layout of the vaults means you genuinely need to know where you’re going before you start hauling gear. The venue team brief you thoroughly, which helps, and it’s worth thinking through your cable runs ahead of time given the stone walls and the multiple connected spaces. Give yourself proper time and don’t try to rush it — the setup is part of what makes the night work here.

The stone vaults at The Caves Edinburgh, set up for a formal event — the venue we cover as DJ at The Caves

The Space — What a DJ at The Caves Needs to Know

The high stone ceilings create a naturally warm, controlled acoustic — sound stays in the room and builds quickly, so you can create a great atmosphere at moderate volumes. That’s a real advantage over some of Edinburgh’s grander venues, where sound simply escapes into vaulted spaces. As DJ at The Caves, we’ve found the multiple connected vault spaces create a natural flow for guests between the bar, the dancefloor and the quieter corners. And the intimate scale works in your favour too: the dancefloor fills quickly, and it stays full.

Events We Cover at The Caves Edinburgh

The Caves hosts weddings, private parties, corporate events and everything in between. It’s a particularly popular choice for couples after something distinctly Edinburgh and atmospheric, rather than a conventional ballroom. As DJ at The Caves, we find corporate events here have a completely different feel to a hotel event space — more immersive, more memorable, and genuinely hard to replicate elsewhere. We also cover quiz nights and themed events here. See our Edinburgh wedding DJ page for more.

Practical Information for The Caves Edinburgh Events

The Caves sits on the South Bridge in Edinburgh city centre, so public transport access is excellent. Parking is really the main thing to think through given the location — speak to the venue team, and they’ll talk you through the best options for suppliers. The in-house team are experienced too, and they manage the practical logistics well.

Frequently Asked Questions

DJ at the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh — Weddings and Corporate Events | Premier Disco

1 26th May 2026 by James Veal

The Assembly Rooms on George Street is one of Edinburgh’s grandest and most historic event venues — a neoclassical building dating from 1787 that has been at the heart of Edinburgh social life for over two centuries. The Music Hall is the centrepiece: a magnificent ballroom with ornate plasterwork, chandeliers, and the kind of proportions that make a large event feel genuinely celebratory. So it’s been host to everything from Edinburgh Festival events to some of the city’s most spectacular weddings.

As DJ at the Assembly Rooms, we’ve provided entertainment here for weddings and corporate events. It’s a venue that rewards experience — the scale and the acoustics of the Music Hall require a specific approach that we’ve refined over multiple events here. More at the Assembly Rooms Edinburgh website →

Setting Up at Assembly Rooms Edinburgh

The Assembly Rooms has dedicated supplier access and an experienced events team, which helps enormously given the scale of what you’re setting up for. Setup for a DJ at the Assembly Rooms really comes down to speaker placement — getting even coverage across a room this large is the main technical challenge. The venue also has its own AV infrastructure, which can be used alongside or instead of an external setup depending on the event. Because of the scale involved, it’s worth allowing plenty of time for setup and a proper sound check.

The front entrance of the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh — the venue we cover as DJ at the Assembly Rooms

The Space — What You Need to Know

The Music Hall is a large, high-ceilinged ballroom — one of the biggest event spaces in central Edinburgh. Given the scale, you need a properly sized system to fill the room, and speaker positioning matters more than it would somewhere smaller. As DJ at the Assembly Rooms, we’ve worked out the best configurations for this space over several events now. The room is visually spectacular too, and it responds beautifully to lighting effects — uplighting the columns and walls here creates a genuinely dramatic atmosphere.

Events We Cover

The Assembly Rooms hosts weddings, corporate events, awards ceremonies, private parties and Festival events. It’s a natural choice for large-scale corporate dinners and awards nights, thanks to the central George Street location and the sheer prestige of the venue. Weddings here tend towards the grand end of the scale too — it’s not really a venue for a quiet dinner for 40. We’ve loved every large-scale event we’ve done here. See our Edinburgh wedding DJ page and corporate events page for more.

Practical Information for Your Event

The Assembly Rooms sits right on George Street in Edinburgh city centre, so public transport is excellent. Parking for suppliers does need a bit of planning given the central location, though — it’s worth speaking to the events team in advance if you’re booking a DJ at the Assembly Rooms. The venue team are professional and well-drilled throughout, so you’re in good hands.

Where is the Assembly Rooms and how do I get there?

The Assembly Rooms is on George Street in Edinburgh city centre, so public transport links are excellent. If you’re bringing a DJ or other suppliers, parking needs a bit of planning given the central location — it’s worth speaking to the venue’s events team in advance.

What kind of events does the Assembly Rooms host?

The venue hosts weddings, corporate events, awards ceremonies, private parties, and Edinburgh Festival events. It particularly suits large-scale occasions — the Music Hall’s scale and grandeur make it a natural fit for big corporate dinners, awards nights, and grand weddings.

What does a DJ need to know about the Music Hall?

The Music Hall is one of the biggest event spaces in central Edinburgh, with a large, high ceiling. As DJ at the Assembly Rooms, we bring a properly sized sound system to fill the room and position speakers carefully — coverage across a space this size is the main technical consideration.

Do I need to arrange parking for my DJ or suppliers?

Yes — because the venue sits right on George Street, supplier parking and loading needs planning ahead. We coordinate directly with the Assembly Rooms events team to make sure setup goes smoothly.

DJ at the Signet Library, Edinburgh — Corporate Events & Private Parties | Premier Disco

1 26th May 2026 by James Veal

The Signet Library on Parliament Square is a venue that stops every first-time visitor in their tracks. It’s a neoclassical masterpiece just steps from St Giles’ Cathedral. The Upper Library’s soaring colonnaded hall and ornate painted ceiling represent one of the most breathtaking interior spaces in Scotland. So turning up here as a DJ for the first time is a slightly humbling experience — the room is genuinely extraordinary, and it sets a very high bar for everything else on the night.

As DJ at the Signet Library, we’ve provided entertainment for corporate dinners and private events here. The acoustic challenges are real, but they’re manageable once you understand the space. In fact, the results when it comes together are unlike anything else in Edinburgh. More at the Signet Library website →

We’ve also covered weddings at the Signet Library — see Premier Disco Weddings’ dedicated Signet Library page for wedding-specific packages and pricing.

Setting Up at the Signet Library

Setup for a DJ at the Signet Library calls for advance coordination with the venue team — the space carries real historic importance, so load-in through Parliament Square and positioning within the Upper Library are both carefully managed rather than left to guesswork. It’s worth building that coordination into your planning from the start.

The Space — What a DJ at the Signet Library Needs to Know

The Upper Library is one of the most acoustically surprising rooms we work in regularly. On paper, that ceiling height and all that hard marble should make for a harsh, echoey sound. In practice, though, the sheer number of books lining the walls soaks up the excess, and it ends up being one of the best-sounding rooms we work in anywhere.

Events We Cover at the Signet Library

The Signet Library hosts corporate dinners, awards nights and private events, and it’s easy to see why it’s such a natural choice for high-prestige occasions — the Parliament Square address and the sheer visual impact of the Upper Library do a lot of the work themselves. See our corporate events page and private parties page for more.

Practical Information for the Signet Library Events

The Signet Library sits on Parliament Square, right in Edinburgh’s Old Town, so it’s steps from the Royal Mile and a short walk from Waverley station. Parking for suppliers does need advance planning given the location, though — it’s worth sorting out early. The venue team are professional throughout and will brief you thoroughly ahead of the day.

Corporate Event DJ at The Dome Edinburgh — 470 Delegates, Pipedown Band and a Night to Remember

1 20th May 2026 by James Veal

The Dome Edinburgh event space with chandeliers and marble columns lit in blue and orange for a corporate party — Premier Disco Scotland
The Dome Edinburgh — one of the city’s most iconic event spaces, and a room that always delivers

There are nights that remind you exactly why you love this job. This corporate event DJ Edinburgh booking took us to The Dome in Edinburgh for one of them. It was a spectacular end-of-conference celebration for 470 delegates, full of energy, great music, and some genuinely brilliant moments. Premier Disco was proud to be part of it, working alongside the team at Reeltime Events.

Corporate Event DJ Edinburgh: Setting Up at The Dome

Setup began at 6:30pm. With a room the size of The Dome and 470 guests expected, getting the atmosphere right from the very first arrival was the priority. That means background bar music that’s warm, relaxed and social — the kind that fills the room without dominating it. For two and a half hours, the vibe was exactly that: a buzzing, well-catered space. Delegates could unwind after a full day of conference sessions and start the evening in the right headspace.

The Dome is one of Edinburgh’s truly iconic venues. Whether you’ve been there a hundred times or it’s your first visit, that stunning interior always draws a reaction from guests the moment they walk through the door. The ornate ceilings, the marble columns, and the chandelier-lit grandeur make quite the entrance.

Pipedown Band — Scottish Tradition with a Modern Twist

At 9pm, the evening shifted gear with a live performance from the Pipedown Band. If you haven’t seen them, you are genuinely missing out. Their set was an extraordinary blend of traditional Scottish music, including a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne. It was delivered with a high-energy, contemporary edge that had the whole room buzzing. It’s the kind of performance that gives you goosebumps — deeply familiar, yet completely fresh.

For a corporate crowd at the end of a long conference day, it was the perfect icebreaker. Cultural, impressive, and utterly alive. By the time Pipedown took their final bow, the room was electric and the delegates were fully ready to party.

DJ Set — Latin, French, RnB and a Packed Dancefloor

The view from behind the decks at The Dome — not a bad office for the night

Then it was over to us — the corporate event DJ Edinburgh team for the night. From 930pm through to 1am, the dancefloor barely emptied.

The music policy for the night had some wonderful variety in it. Alongside the usual party favourites and classic RnB, there was a generous helping of Latin music — samba, salsa, irresistible Latin pop. A well-placed sprinkling of French music was thrown into the mix too. It’s always a pleasure playing to a crowd who appreciate something beyond the predictable playlist. This audience was absolutely up for every twist and turn the night took.

The feedback throughout the evening was overwhelmingly positive. Many guests stopped by the booth to say how much they were enjoying themselves. That reaction never gets old, no matter how many events you’ve done.

The final track played at 1am. The derig was complete and everything was loaded into the van by 2:15am — a clean, professional finish to a brilliant night’s work.

Frequently Asked Questions — Corporate Event DJ Edinburgh

What does a corporate event DJ do differently from a wedding DJ?

A corporate event DJ reads the room in exactly the same way as at a wedding, but the audience and brief are different. Corporate guests are often colleagues or industry contacts rather than close friends and family. That means the warm-up period matters more, and the music policy needs to bring a diverse crowd together quickly. The ability to blend background music seamlessly into full dancefloor mode is something we do at every event we play, adjusting that transition based on how the room is feeling.

Can you work alongside live acts like a band or piper?

Absolutely — and it’s something we genuinely enjoy. Last night’s event with Pipedown Band is a great example. We handle background music while guests arrive and socialise. The live act does their set, and then we take over for the main DJ portion of the evening. The transitions are smooth, the overall experience feels premium, and the two elements complement each other brilliantly. If you’re considering a live act alongside DJ entertainment for your corporate event, it’s a combination we’d highly recommend.

What kind of music works best at a corporate event?

It depends entirely on the brief, the demographic and the tone of the event. That’s why we always have a proper conversation before any corporate booking. Last night’s mix of Latin, French, RnB and party classics worked perfectly for this particular crowd. Other events call for something more focused, perhaps a 70s and 80s set, a pure pop night, or a themed playlist that ties into the conference content. We’re experienced enough to make recommendations, but flexible enough to build the night around whatever works best for your guests.

A Few More Questions

How far in advance should we book a corporate event DJ in Edinburgh?

For large corporate events — particularly those at premium Edinburgh venues — we’d recommend booking as early as possible. Dates at top venues fill up quickly, and the best entertainment suppliers go with them. Six to twelve months in advance is ideal for events over 200 guests. We do take on shorter-notice bookings where our availability allows. Get in touch and we’ll let you know straightaway.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment for large venues like The Dome?

Yes — we carry professional-grade sound and lighting equipment scaled to the size of the venue and the number of guests. A room like The Dome holding 470 people requires a very different setup from a smaller private event. We plan accordingly. Everything from speaker placement and subwoofer coverage to lighting rigs and DJ booth setup is considered well in advance. On the night, it simply works — and works well.

Charity Fun Night Scotland — The Complete Guide to Raising More with Races, Quiz and Games

1 11th May 2026 by James Veal

This charity fun night guide is for any club, school or community group whose regular fundraiser has started to feel stale. If your group has run the same fundraiser a few years in a row, you’ll already know the problem. The first race night feels like an event. By the third or fourth, it’s a habit — and the takings show it. A charity fun night in Scotland is the answer to that. It gives your regular supporters something genuinely new while keeping everything that works about a race night: the excitement, the competitive edge, the straightforward format. On top of that, it adds a smartphone quiz and live games, which means more variety, more engagement and more money raised.

James at Premier Disco has been running charity fun nights across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife for years. Here’s an honest guide to how they work, what they raise and what makes them different.

Charity Fun Night Guide: What Is a Charity Fun Night?

Guests enjoying a real Premier Disco charity fun night guide event at Macmerry Bowling Club

A charity fun night is a combined fundraising event that packs three different formats into one evening. Rather than running a single activity from start to finish, the night moves through a series of activities that keep energy high and give different guests their moment to shine. At Premier Disco, the standard format includes:

  • 4 horse races — pre-recorded races on a large screen, with betting using our electronic tote system. The same format that has helped clients raise over £3,300 in a single evening at a standard race night.
  • 3 rounds of SpeedQuiz — a smartphone-based quiz where every guest plays on their own phone in real time. Live leaderboards display on screen after every round, which creates genuine competition across the whole room.
  • Live games — your choice from Spin the Wheel, Play Your Cards Right, Chase the Ace, Open the Box, Lucky Ball Grab, Music Bingo and more.
  • Professional DJ — music throughout to fill the gaps and close the night properly.

Everything runs with James hosting throughout, keeping the pace up, building the atmosphere and making sure every activity flows into the next. For full details, see the Charity Fun Night page.

How Much Can a Charity Fun Night Raise?

In short, it raises at least as much as a race night — and usually more. The reason is simple: more activities mean more ways to take money across the evening. In addition to race betting, you have quiz entry fees, game participation fees and the energy that builds when guests are genuinely competing with each other.

A well-prepared charity fun night with 100 guests typically raises £1,000–£2,500+. However, preparation is the key variable. James sends every client a Race Pack before the night — a practical guide to selling race sponsorships and horse ownerships in advance. Cara at Tranent FC used it to raise over £1,000 before the event even started. The night itself then builds on top of that.

How Does That Compare to a Standard Race Night?

A good race night raises £1,000–£2,000 with 100 guests. A charity fun night targets the same range — but because guests who aren’t particularly interested in racing are more engaged during the quiz and games sections, they tend to spend more across the whole evening. Furthermore, the variety keeps people at their tables for longer rather than heading to the bar between races.

Who Is a Charity Fun Night Best Suited For?

There are two situations where a charity fun night works especially well.

Groups who’ve done a race night before. If your regular crowd has already been to two or three race nights with you, a charity fun night gives them a reason to come back and spend again. The format is familiar enough to feel safe, but different enough to feel like a new event. Many of James’s clients book a charity fun night as their second or third fundraising event after a successful race night.

First-time organisers who want to offer more variety from the start. If you’re planning your first fundraising evening, a charity fun night gives you a richer programme that suits a wider range of guests. Consequently, people who aren’t racing fans still have a great night — and that shows in the takings.

The SpeedQuiz Element — Why It Works So Well

The smartphone quiz is genuinely different from a traditional pub quiz. There are no answer sheets, no marking, no waiting. Every guest plays on their own phone, answers appear in real time and the leaderboard updates after each round. As a result, the competition is visible to everyone in the room — and it tends to get personal quickly, especially at tables of friends or colleagues who know each other well.

It also works for all ages, which is important at a community fundraiser where your crowd spans several generations. Older guests who might be slightly uncertain about the race betting format often come alive during the quiz. In fact, James ran a charity fun night for a Myeloma UK fundraiser where the organiser afterwards described it as a perfect night — the quiz and the Irish Bingo in particular were highlights for the whole room.

Practical Tips for a Successful Charity Fun Night in Scotland

The same principles that apply to a race night apply here — preparation before the event makes a much bigger difference than anything that happens on the night itself. Here are the things that consistently make the biggest impact:

  1. Sell race sponsorships and horse ownerships early. James’s Race Pack explains exactly how to do this. The target is to cover the hire fee entirely from pre-event sales, so that everything raised on the night is pure profit for your cause.
  2. Promote the quiz element in advance. People who wouldn’t normally come to a race night will turn out for a quiz. Lead with the variety in your ticket promotion — “races, quiz and games” draws a wider crowd than “race night” alone.

More Charity Fun Night Guide Tips

  1. Choose your games to suit your crowd. James will discuss the options with you in advance. Music Bingo works brilliantly for mixed-age groups. Play Your Cards Right creates huge tension at the right moment. The right game for your crowd can make a section of the evening memorable in a way that a race alone can’t.
  2. Run a raffle alongside. A raffle fits naturally into the gaps between activities and adds another income stream with minimal extra work. Local businesses are often willing to donate prizes when you explain the cause.
  3. Book at least 6–8 weeks ahead. This gives you enough time to sell tickets, find race sponsors and get local press or social media coverage before the night. Autumn and pre-Christmas dates book up fast — so the earlier you get in touch, the better.

What Organisers Say

The Myeloma UK organiser who booked James for a charity fun night wrote afterwards:

“James Veal was the ultimate professional, set up in plenty of time for the event starting. He ran my Irish Bingo as well as the quiz, which everyone enjoyed. He is very good with his one liners and banter with the players — a great night was enjoyed by all. I can’t recommend James any better than perfect — 5 out of 5!”

“What a brilliant Fun Night from start to finish — music bingo, quiz chaos, horse racing drama, loads of laughs and honestly just the best atmosphere all night. Huge credit to James (Premier Disco) for putting on such a fun Fun Night.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a charity fun night combining races, quiz and games?

A charity fun night is a multi-format fundraising event that combines horse racing (with fictional betting and professional commentary), a quiz with competitive table rounds, and games such as music video bingo into a single entertaining evening. The variety keeps guests engaged throughout and creates more fundraising opportunities than any single event format on its own.

How much can you raise with a combined charity fun night in Scotland?

Combined charity fun nights in Scotland regularly raise between £1,500 and £3,000 or more in one evening. The key variables are ticket sales, race sponsorship from local businesses, and how many rounds and games are included. Premier Disco can help you plan a format designed to maximise what your specific audience will spend.

What does Premier Disco provide for a charity fun night?

Everything. Race video software and professional commentary, quiz rounds tailored to your audience, music video bingo cards and hosting, a full PA system, wireless microphone, and experienced MC hosting throughout the entire evening. How long does a charity fun night last?

A typical charity fun night runs for three to four hours and feels fast-paced throughout. A common format is six races with quiz rounds in between, followed by music video bingo and a prize draw to close. The variety of formats prevents any single element from feeling drawn out.

Can I customise the format to suit my club or charity?

Yes. We work with you before the event to agree the running order, the number of rounds and how each element fits your timings and venue. If you have specific requirements — a charity auction, a raffle, a specific quiz theme — we build these into the plan.
