How to Play Cornhole / Plonk: A Beginner’s Guide

What’s included: two boards and 8 bags, recommended 27ft apart — adjust closer to suit younger or less experienced players.
How to Play
- Set the two boards up facing each other at your chosen distance.
- Players/teams take turns tossing 4 bags each toward the opposite board.
- A bag through the hole scores 3 points; a bag that lands and stays on the board scores 1 point.
- Once all 8 bags are thrown, tally the round using cancellation scoring: only the higher score counts, minus the lower score.
- First to 21 points wins.
Example: if one side scores 5 points and the other scores 2, the first side gets 3 points that round.
A Few Strategy Tips for Beginners
- Get on the board first. Land a safe point before going for the hole once you’ve found your range.
- Block the hole. Landing a bag in front of it can stop your opponent’s bags sliding in.
