On 2nd May 2026, Connor and Emma McKenzie celebrated their wedding reception at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club in Prestonpans — and it was a night that nobody in the room will forget in a hurry. A packed dance floor from start to finish, live saxophone, and one of those unmistakably brilliant Scottish wedding moments made this an evening that set the bar very high.
Royal Musselburgh Golf Club — A Venue We Know Well
Royal Musselburgh Golf Club in Prestonpans is practically on our doorstep — one of East Lothian’s most characterful event spaces and a venue we thoroughly enjoy working at. Founded in 1774, it’s one of the oldest golf clubs in the world, and while the history is there in the fabric of the building, on a wedding night it simply becomes a warm, well-sized room that responds beautifully to a big sound system and a crowd who are ready to dance. If you’re considering a wedding here, our Wedding DJ East Lothian page covers what we offer across the region.
Tom B Sax — The Man in the Red Suit
Connor and Emma chose to add Tom B Sax — performing as The Man in the Red Suit — as live saxophone entertainment alongside the DJ for the opening of the evening. It’s an addition that transforms the atmosphere in a room almost instantly. The combination of live performance and DJ energy creates something neither can achieve alone, and Tom was outstanding all evening — working the crowd, feeding off the energy around him, and ensuring nobody was standing on the sidelines for long.
Loch Lomond and a Moment to Remember
Every great Scottish wedding has a moment — and Connor and Emma’s came during Runrig’s Loch Lomond. As the song filled the room and every guest sang along at the top of their voices, the bride and groom were lifted high by their friends and family in one of those spontaneous, unrepeatable moments that define a brilliant wedding night. You can’t plan for it. It just happens when the music is right and the crowd is right, and everything connects at exactly the right moment.
A Crowd Who Were There for Every Song
What set this reception apart was the guests — a crowd who were genuinely committed to the night from the first track to the last. The dance floor was full early and it stayed that way. The same people who were dancing at the start were still going strong at the very end. That kind of sustained energy is something special when it happens, and it makes every DJ decision land a little better and every moment feel a little bigger.
Congratulations to Connor and Emma McKenzie. It was a privilege to be part of your wedding night — Royal Musselburgh was the perfect setting and your guests made it an evening to remember for all the right reasons.
