Karaoke and a room full of strangers sounds like a recipe for awkwardness. What actually happened at the Radisson Red in Glasgow was the opposite — and it’s a good example of why karaoke works so well as corporate entertainment when it’s run properly.
The Event: An International Conference Finale in Glasgow
Jane from Hotdocs.ca brought together a group of delegates from across the world for a conference in Glasgow in November 2022. After days of sessions, site visits and networking, she wanted the final evening to be relaxed, fun and genuinely memorable — something that would bring people together regardless of where they’d come from.
She chose karaoke at the Radisson Red, and asked Premier Disco to host it.
Why Karaoke Works for Corporate Groups
Corporate events often struggle with the same problem: how do you get a group of colleagues or delegates — many of whom don’t know each other well — to actually relax and enjoy themselves? Icebreaker activities can feel forced. A sit-down dinner ends too quietly. A DJ night leaves half the room on the sidelines.
Karaoke solves this in a way that’s hard to replicate. It gives people something to do together, something to laugh about, and a shared experience that doesn’t require everyone to be on the dance floor. One person gets up and sings — badly, brilliantly, or somewhere in between — and suddenly the whole room is involved. It breaks hierarchies, levels the playing field, and creates the kind of memories that people talk about long after the conference ends.
It also travels well. With delegates from multiple countries, karaoke has an almost universal appeal — the song catalogue spans decades and genres, so there’s something for everyone regardless of background or age.
What We Provide for Corporate Karaoke Events
We bring professional karaoke equipment, a huge song library spanning every genre and era, and a host who knows how to read a room. That last part matters more than the equipment — getting the first few people up, keeping energy high, calling songs at the right pace and knowing when to push and when to hold back is what separates a great karaoke night from a flat one.
We work in venues across Edinburgh and Glasgow for corporate clients including conference dinners, team nights out, away days and end-of-year parties. Every event is different, and we adapt to the group — whether that’s a competitive singalong between teams or a relaxed evening where people dip in and out as they like.
Planning a Corporate Event in Edinburgh or Glasgow?
If you’re looking for entertainment that actually brings a group together — rather than just filling a room — karaoke is worth serious consideration. It works for small teams of 20 and large conference groups of 150+, and it scales well to most venue setups.
We also provide quiz nights, giant games, race nights and full DJ services for corporate functions. If you’d like to talk through what would work best for your event, get in touch — we’re happy to advise.
Corporate Karaoke FAQs
Yes — and it works better than most corporate team building formats. It’s participatory rather than passive, it creates shared memories, and it gets colleagues laughing together in a way that a quiz or workshop rarely does. The key is having an experienced presenter who reads the room and encourages without pressuring anyone.
We provide corporate karaoke for groups from around 20 up to several hundred guests. For larger events we can run multiple microphones and manage longer queues to ensure the evening keeps moving.
Yes — we cover corporate karaoke events across Scotland from our base near Edinburgh. Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Fife, Stirling, and the Scottish Borders are all within our regular coverage area.
Absolutely — karaoke works brilliantly alongside a DJ set, a race night, or a quiz. A popular structure is a DJ set to open the evening, karaoke as a mid-evening highlight, then back to the DJ for the rest of the night. We can build whatever format works best for your event.
